The Organisationally Supported Membership Scheme (OSMS)

View full sized ISM Application Guidance Document

The OSMS is designed to recognise existing corporate continuous professional development programmes and enhance these through a specific focus on the IT Service Management community within the organisation.

A number of organisations are currently in discussion about joining the scheme, from large retail banks to large service providers. Even smaller consultancy organisations are giving serious consideration to the scheme and its benefits to individuals and the organisation. On top of the ISM individual benefits the following can be gained through the OSMS :

Development of the HR processes via Continuing Professional Development Plans. This increases HR maturity which then filters across the rest of the organisation HR gains increased awareness of IT and Service Management requirements, thus improving the internal business relationship. Service Management staff are in turn being better serviced by HR in all maters of development and training. IT Service Management becomes more ingrained within an organisations culture. This makes it easier to follow and improve all the Service Management processes. Reduction in costs, as most organisations will sponsor each individual at normal member rates, OSMS allows for a lower pricing structure.
