Peter Greenham PrISM, London Borough of Ealing

What is your job role?

On the 1st October, 2007, I will be moving to a new role as "Systems Improvement Manager". This role will not only cover systems improvement but also IT Service Improvement for three areas within the Authority (Housing Benefits, Social Services and Environmental Services). I have worked for 16 years in the public sector and I am looking forward to applying this experience in my new role.

The role will also involve working with third-parties at a liaison level focusing on developing strategic partnerships with our suppliers, identifying how we can work closer together to provide a seamless service to our customers.

What do the London Borough of Ealing do?

Ealing is a modern, multi-cultural borough at the centre of West London. Home to 300,000 people, Ealing is extremely culturally diverse - it is the fourth most ethnically diverse area in the country with more than forty percent of residents coming from minority groups. This diversity helps to make the borough unique and vibrant. Ealing is a fascinating and rewarding place to work and offers a first-class working environment, second to none in local government in newly modernised offices.

Why did you join the ISM?

I am a member of the itSMF but I was looking for some way of getting access to a wider community of people specifically focusing upon ways to develop and learn from others. I believe the ISM is well positioned to provide this support through its Mentoring Programme and events.

What are your career aspirations?

In the future I would like to move away from departmental IT operational management and into a more strategic service management and delivery position, in order to drive cultural change in a service management context, both within the council and with its partners.

What are your interests?

I have a passion for music, I play the piano, guitar and saxophone. Previously I played in bands but time doesn't allow for this anymore. Recently my family bought me flying lessons, learning to fly a plane has been a lifelong dream, so I am now seriously considering going for a private pilot's licence.
